Welcome to Outworlder Reviews. This is the first post on the site, and also an explanation of what I’m doing here.

I read a lot of sci-fi and fantasy. Generally, I get through 1-4 books every two weeks or so, depending on what else I’ve got going on. I also like to talk about the books that I read, but I don’t know anyone else who both loves fantasy and sci-fi as much as I do and also reads as much as I do, so there are a lot of books that I just finish and then never really get to think about again.

To alleviate this problem, I started writing reviews of books. This was just for myself at first, so that I could get my thoughts about the novels I was reading out of my head and onto a page somewhere, but that felt kind of pointless. I figured that maybe my thoughts would be useful to someone else looking for something good to read, so…here we are.

Some ground rules:

  • I only read books that I feel like reading
  • I pretty much only read sci-fi, fantasy, and similar genre fiction. This isn’t a hard and fast rule, but generally speaking if a book is set in the modern day or an actual historical era and doesn’t have monsters or some kind of alternate history premise, it really needs to do a lot to justify its existence to me.
  • If you send me a message asking me to review your book, or to review a specific book that you think I might like, I may or may not actually do it depending on my current schedule, what else I’m reading, what I’m planning on reading, etc. Please don’t take offense either way.

I’ve got a bunch of reviews that I’ve already written, so after this post I’m going to be throwing reviews onto the site very quickly. After those are all up, the pace will slow down quite a bit.

Let’s get started, shall we?
